Bigjeeze Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 I have tried without success to re fit the thermostat housing and seal but whoever designed it hasn't understood gravity. In the end it looks like the only way I can be certain that the damned seal etc is fitted securely is to take off the water pump and do it on the bench. Has anyone any suggestions of any other way to fit the seal etc? I cannot get the seal to sit in place and the t/stat to stay in place whilst I try to fit the cover and bolts - it just keeps falling out. Here's hoping someone will respond to this post cos no bleeder ( except Gregers) did to my last one. Do people only take and not give??? Quote
mk2vr6 Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 clean and dry the area, liberal coating of vaselene and the seal should stay put! as for the stat the same should work as long as you use enough and dont knock it loose while lineing up the cover Quote
gregers Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 i was going to suggest a liquid gasket type thing, but mk2s way is probably a lot better. Quote
