V6 2.8 Gearbox

Hi a strange question I think my ecu is having problems and have now lost 3rd and 4th gear vag com now does not recognise the ecu so i picked up a brand new ecu on e bay for

found it says its a ag5 part no 09b 927 750 g

Does anyone know if this will do the job and i can use it I believe its a ag4 ecu

 

I would not think it would have any chance of working at all.

 

Can you post your car details make, model, year etc.

this is a 1998 v6 2.8 ghia x with every extra leather etc

do you need any more info if so please ask

IIRC a lot of problems with the early auto ecus were with connections in the multiway plug/socket to the gearbox. Also lots of wires that can break....

 

Then the gearbox itself may be faulty - often due to abuse (towing) and burnt/low oil.

 

If you get some gears then I doubt the ecu is faulty.
