Hi peeps, i'm thinking on a nice set of new alloy wheels at the moment, the two different styles i have in mind are rs6 (which i have seen on the mk2 and quite like) and new rs4's, any thoughts on the better looking for a mk2. Also the sizing, 18's or 19's, i will drop the Gal on gmax springs soon but dont want any tyres rubbing on arches when fully loaded etc..

Does any one have a pic of a mk2 Gal on new rs4's??

Cheers Rob.

Also will the rolling radius change as i'm 'uping' in wheel size but 'downing' in tyre size as i don't wanna effect the speedo mph reading?

Try this link for checking what they look like.

Generally speaking, regards to going up in size of wheel then the ratio will need to go down in the same porportion.

eg 16" alloys with 215/55x16 tyres

17" alloys will need 215/45x17 tyres etc etc

Thanks Saif, so would 18's on 40's be ok and keep roughly the same rolling radius?

According to the link i gave you, that combination should be ok and personally i like the RS6 style.

There is a member here by the name of jkspoff who has 18" fitted, so i think he would be the best person to confirm this.

Hi, I have the RS6 19" alloys on my mk2 Galaxy, its also lowered with G-max springs, the ride is still smooth with massively improved handling. Here is a pic of it looking rather dirty. Edited by jkspoff

Hi Jkspoff, do you get any tyres rubbing the arches when fully loaded?

Any chance i could see a pic of your Gal on 19's please?

Cheers Rob

Hi, sorry been away Christmas shopping and the like ! Here is a pic of my 19" alloys with 235 35 ZR19 Avon tyres fitted, they do not rub or catch even when the Galaxy is fully laden. Its looking quite mucky and unloved on this pic !

Mirez, are you running 18's and lowered with gmax by 50mm? do you get any tyre rubbing when fully loaded?

18's but not lowered as the drives too steep!

After Selling the mondeo i thought the mid life crisis had past however i find myself with some spare time after the christmas madness (shopworker) trawling through fleabay

for a set of Audi a8 18 inch genuine alloys to ad some bling which incidentley have the correct tyre loads 95 - 100

I too was concerned about ride height and may be about to turn into landalaxy heres hoping my springs are so old it growns at extra height. anyway found this link where you put the wheels youve got in and it tell you if you going to be rubbing your springs or tramling your car even if you not changing your wheels you can have hours of fun seeing which tyres effect your speedo the most B)

looking through the various sites there seems to be a multitude of people offering RS style wheels.

are any best to avoid, or better still are there those that people have found to work without failure/cracking etc?

I only ask as although the kerb weight for an A6 is more than a Galaxy, some of these wheels seemed to be aimed at Golfs and A3's.

I have the replica RS6 alloys and never had any issues with them, other than keeping them away from the kerbs !

well bought some genuine wheels ex audi a8 18 " was worried about the offset being 48 until i took the cap off my standard mk1 alloys and saw an offset of 59

the wheels have 245 / 45 zr18 tyres avon as new and an offsett of 48 and fit very well untill i did a full lock and the tyre and some snow caught on a bit of plastic on the near side arch i pushed the plastic back and they havent been a problem

the drive is a better with no real changes to speedo although 4th gear is now like 5th where revs are concerned and first and secound have more umph

I am not planning on towing a shed anytime soon although i did trailer some rubbish to tip all felt normal mind you am driving the V6 verision so i could be sure how the larger wheels would be on less power if you were a shed puller.

In theory using the link in previous post you could easy put 20" alloys on a mk1 galaxy

on ride height .... where did i put that landrover badge
