Driving home tonight and battery light came on followed by lack of power steering, not easy to drive without it but got home and removed undertray and wheel to find the tensioner pulley has disintegrated, luckily the newly fitted belt seems fine.

Hi it's the tensioner pulley ?.

I replaced mine as it was noisey on cold mornings. Had to buy the complete tensioner unit with pulley as they wouldn't sell the pulley seperate.

Mine is a 2000 facelift 2.3 with the aircon but i'm sure it's the same tensioner.

I still have the old one that works fine if it's any use to you and would get you back on the road till after christmas.

Let me know, could post out tomorrow for you.

Cheers

Paul.

Top man Paul, hopefully your pulley will be the same as mine was , the plan is to hold back the tensioner and slip the pulley on to it's boss and then bolt on, not sure where the rest of mine went ?. Don't suppose anyone know's the part number for the idler pulley ?.

mauser do you mind if i put this thread in with the alternator error thread as i think its all in the same specific area?

rather then having too many threads of the same going on.

Not at all move it where ever it's best suited :). Contacted Ford today in Birmingham they were very helpful turns out the idle pulley is now metal as posted elsewhere on here now the tensioner pulley is still plastic ? and as we thought not a seperate item the idle is @

So is this LINK the old or revised part? Or something totally different?

Yes, that one in the link is for the diesel.

The petrol one is completely different, and as Mauser says you can indeed buy the much cheaper idler pulley and fit it to the old tensioner assembly.
