Guest lisa2402 Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 HiA quick question : is it possible to dissconnect or alter my built in car alarm as it's always going off, the slightest thing triggers it, wind, rain or just the cold weather sets it off. It's a built in alarm that's activated when turning the door key to the left then right.what i have to do at the moment is disconnect the battery each time i get out of my car and re-connect each time i use it, although ive got this down to a fine art now i think it's bout time i got it sorted, so my question is, how do i dissconnect the car alarm ?? or is it possible to lower the settings on it so it stops going off all the time. Many thanks for your help on this matter. ford mondeo lx (1993)l reg1.64 dr saloon Quote
Guest ianock Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Adjust the bonnet to 'drop' lower(screw in the rubber stops)failing that renew the bonnet switch( Quote
Guest mondeoman71 Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I have same alarm problem on my Mk2 97 hatch. Although it could be the bonnet button on yours, (and there is a way to test this!!!), Ive been told, by a ford electrician, that the wire in the footwell is metal and is prone to moisture ingress, therefore corroding the wire inside and breaking down This makes my alarm go off all the time! Very annoying. Is this a common fault?all answers on a postcard.........LH Quote
Guest ianock Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Never heard of that on Mk 2 mondeos,Mk 1's yeah(orange wire connection plus yellow/red & white/red signal wires from n/s door along o/s sill by drivers seat))but this is often combined with central locking problems(i'm sparky aswell).Lisa did you ever solve the problem?(dont forget to check door set/reset & ajar switches aswell via self-test). Guest Armengar Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 try going to http://www.mirez.co.uk/AlarmProbs.htm The bonnet switch sorted my 97 mondeo out. My alarm would go off for no reason - sometimes it would occasionally "blip" with the horn+hazards. good idea to change the full rubber boot and switch (got mine from ford) lisa - as a quick fix you can pull fuse25 out which will take out the alarm and central locking but BEWARE! you may need to reprogram your keys again so make sure you have a RED KEY handy if you need it. Guest MikeyB Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 My old 2.0 GLX 93 used to go off all the time so I disconected the horn. It was loacted in the boot inside the carpet at the side - just pulled the carpet away and ripped the wire out - problem sorted! Quote
