scooby71 Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 hi all,ive got a burnt out fuse box in the front engine compartment , it is a common fault so ive read in the forum .i was looking for the part no and a how to repair my self as the local garage are asking for 100 charge to replace the part ,when people have said it costs around 25 to buy ?any help in this problem would be great .also do you have to change the alternator cable to fuse box ,does anyone know of a spares company on net what has good prices for fords.thanks againjason Quote

I had the same problem with the fuse box and burnt out alternator lead, mine is on a 53 plate, 1.9 Tdi 130bhp Ghia. When I fitted a new alternator lead from Ford I found the copper lead was thicker than the original one fitted. My friend has a 2005 Seat Alhambra (same engine) and he had the wider copper lead fitted as standard. Seems Ford has now upgraded this lead so that it can carry the current.Hope this helps some one who is not sure what to do about there alternator lead. John Quote
