big_kev Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) Have you cleared the fault code first........if not this may still be the original fault showing. Ooops someone beat me to it. Edited December 3, 2009 by big_kev Quote

Mirez Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Possibly a defective glowplug or more likely the wrong one for the booster and its touching the frame instead of being insulated. Quote

So most likley it is still a problem with the glowplug yes??? Edited December 3, 2009 by whitietdi Quote
Mirez Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Certainly! If you pay for something it should be done right! "Short to ground" can only be incorrect or badly fitted plug or a wiring fault. The latter being reasonably unlikely unless they've caught it whilst putting it back together. Quote
gregers Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 mmm me wonders if when you take it back they come out with the old chesnut, you need a new booster heater???? Quote
whitietdi Posted December 3, 2009 Author Report Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) mmm me wonders if when you take it back they come out with the old chesnut, you need a new booster heater???? Was not a fraud garage was my local small garage what i always use, when i told them to replace aux plug got a confused look i had to explain to them what it was, it went in originally for a front end wobble(now repaired), but knew about the plug problems(from here),and because brother-in-law had a alhambra which he replaced the plug in.Intrestingly they said there was no fault codes showing when they replaced plug soon as i plugged vag-com in found the 5 that needed resetting. marinabrid Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 check they actually fitted the correct plug, they should have paperwork to prove they got the plug in for that job, they could have fitted any glow plug that looked similar !a lot of these garages have never seen or heard one of these heaters and know nothing about them. TDIPAZ Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Had my aux heater apart after heavy smoke from the unit exaust & failed start ups. I removed the glow plug, cleaned it with wet & dry sanding paper. on refitting, noticed the two teminals that fit to the top of the plug, so close together that you have to be carefull that you dont have them touching creating a short circuit or crossing current in damp conditions etc My heater is now working fine..... best of luck folks  Quote
