daveknight11 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Report Posted November 30, 2009 Thanks BK.Will take a look at the fans soon as.Have already tried swapping "hedgehogs" but makes no difference. If I give the lower glovebox a bash, it sounds like the fan tries to start but gives up straight away. Quote

daveknight11 Posted December 1, 2009 Author Report Posted December 1, 2009 Can I check for voltage at the fan wiring connector? Quote
big_kev Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Can I check for voltage at the fan wiring connector? Yep, You should see different voltages depending on the fan speed. Lower speed....lower voltage. Quote

big_kev Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 And that can be checked with an anoloque meter?ie. The feed isn't digital or pulsed, etc...!!!! Ordinary cheapo multimeter will be fine, you should see a differing DC voltage eg 12v, 8v, 6v 4v etc ( approximate ). Quote
daveknight11 Posted December 1, 2009 Author Report Posted December 1, 2009 Right.Have checked voltage but doesn't seem to progressively vary. Not to worry because have got the blower motor out and tried it hanging by it's lead. Did work better but eventually slowed and stopped, but did feel a knock every rev, worse at slower revs. Further investigation shoes a spark at the same point every knock. Does this mean it's had it. daveknight11 Posted December 3, 2009 Author Report Posted December 3, 2009 Going to order a new fan tomorrow. Has anyone got any idea of a good price for one of these? Quote

cuffy Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) Hello!Yesterday my front heatingfan stoped working, but the rear one runs just fine. I tried to disconnect the battery and reset my climatecontrol, but no luck. After reading this thread, I went on trying to find the fan. Why do they make cars so hard to pull apart? All this plastic that breaks when you tries to pull on it. Well... I finally got the clovecompartment out. And there it was. My "dead" fan. Tried to pull out the powercord, and then the fan started. So it seemed that my power/signalcord was loose. I can now drive around in cold and wet Norway with some visibility.Thanx for all your help! :) Edited December 9, 2009 by cuffy Quote
alane Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Hi Does anyone know if the motor in a Mk2 Galaxy/Sharan is the same as that in the Mk1? My blower motor has gone and the only scrap motor I can locate is from Mk2 (2003) model but mine is a Mk1 (98). Local VW dealer quoted my Quote
