Hello, I'm Steve.

I'll start off by saying that I don't own the Galaxy, it belongs to my partner's family, and I'll try to keep it short, lol.

Second, thanks for the advice on clearing out the drains above the wheel arches, we cleared them today and these were blocked and caused the passanger side footwell to flood and killed the control unit. We got a new control unit from a scrap yard and tested it out, it worked fine but now here's the problem.

Central locking doesn't work, the alarm doesn't seem to be activated and the driver side back door won't open at all.

Relay 79 has been replaced but nothing has changed, we then changed the control unit back to the old one and it works, so we have 2 of relay 79 and 2 control units, all end up with the same problem.

We are unable to find a fuse for the central locking and alarm listed anywhere, so I'm here for help on behalf of the family.

Also, inside the passanger footwell, to the right of the control unit is a button, thats red. It looks like a "reset" switch but is already pushed in. Any idea what this is?

So, any help on the alarm system or central locking would be brilliant.

The Galaxy is N reg 96

Thanks,

Steve.

Check wires in rubber gaitor to rear door - they often break.

If all that was working before you swapped the unit then its unlikely to be a number of faults that have suddenly arrived and more likely to be a knackered replacement unit!

The red switch is the fuel inertia switch and should be depressed at all times unless you have a big shunt in which case it'll pop up and turn off the fuel pump.

Have you got more details on the fuses? Ampage and location? There are 2 fuse boxes, one under the steering column and one under the bonnet. Keeping in mind it's a 96/Mk1/N reg

The problem with the rear driver side door is that it worked with central locking, but will not open manually now that the central locking is snuffed, inside or out.

Both control units work and both have the same problem with central locking and the alarm, is it likely that they both are faulty?

And some more bad news, it rained lastnight and the footwell is a paddling pool, so the scuttle drains near the wheel arch isn't the problem, the sunroof was just cleaned and is draining water without a problem, so other possibilities are being looked into.

Thanks for the info. =]
