degens Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 The Parking Sensors on our Galaxy only seem to work half the time. The rest of the time they are on constantly and we have to switch them off on the dash. The problem is very intermittent. Can anyone tell me if water or dirt is likely to be the cause. It seems a bit naff if they are triggered so easily. Cheers Phil Quote
_dg Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 I thought these were sealed sensor units? Possibly a loose connection or a faulty sensor Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 What do you mean by "on constantly"? - Do you mean that they are on when you are driving normally, or that when you go into reverse, they are giving out the continuous bleeping tone? Quote
degens Posted April 7, 2004 Author Report Posted April 7, 2004 They beep constantly even when nothing is in the way. I must admit I don't know if this continues in normal driving because I have switched them off by then as they drive me mad - I will have to try leaving them on. I think it might only be the front ones causing the problem as the switch on the dash stops it. I do have a towbar fitted but they were fine for some time after this was done. When I said about water or dirt causing the problem I meant would it detect these and cause a false reading. Cheers Phil. Quote
HJT Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Rain or dirt can cause misdetection (is there such a word? :o ) Try cleaning them and see if that helps. You can tell which set is giving the reading as the front has a different tone to the rear, one pitch is higher than the other (can't remember which is which). Howard Quote
