Gearbox Top Up Levels Check 1.9 Tdi Manual

Hi

 

Can someone help. I have a 1.9tdi Galaxy 2001 and after three years thought I had better check gear oil? Is the top up plug the one with the allen key ? If so does anyone know what size it is as the biggest I have is 10mm!!! Do I top up on level ground until it starts to come out?

i think they are filled for life, but i cou;ld be wrong, i had ours checked by the garage after 5 years and it hadnt used any.

Hi acording to the manual , yes top up on level ground till it reaches the top up hole , sorry dont know size of allen key

It should be filled from factory for the life of the vehicle. However any car I've owned that has claimed that I've always renewed the oil as a matter of servicing. If anyone's in any doubt as to why - have a read of this thread:

* I should clarify by saying thats not my post, but every gearbox oil change I've done its looked similar to that! I fully intend to do this galaxy in the next few weeks and I'll almost certainly use the same oil as that post.
