Can any one offer me any advice? I was driving towards traffic lights when my car died (all the warning lights came on), then there was nothing. We called the recovery people and he has said the cam belt had gone. Is there any chance of saving the car or would this have killed the engine? its a v reg.. any advice would be appricated - cheers

no cam belt, VR6 has chains, so if he looked under the bonnet and saw a broken belt then its the aux drive belt, powers the alternator, power steering, water pump and ac

He didnt see a broken belt he looked and went by the noise and the fact the car was turning over but making a noise and not starting. I think we will get someone to look at it before we make any drastic decisons, thanks for the advice
