hi all i have a ford galaxy 2.8 v6 ghiax 1997 mk1 for the last couple of days we have had trouble getting any gear even with engine off and with no foot on the cluch the gear stick seems very stiff then it seem to get a bit better then today it went cant get any gear at all got it to a garage and they checked the cable and said that was ok so it looked like it was the gear box then the garage phoned and said that there is a box on top of the gear box which could be at fault but they want 2 hours labour to check this box out can any body help with what this box maybe and if it can cause this sort of fault or is the garage just trying to get a few quid out of me hope someone can help

Just done one with a similar problem to yours. The selector shaft had seized in a needle roller type bearing on the box you are talking about. When you remove the reverse switch you can see the shaft and that is where the bearing is. The bearing cost
