NeonSurge Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 Hi all, long time visitor, first time poster  At the supermarket earlier today I unlocked the passender side front door on my trusty old W reg Galaxy, the car unlocked as normal but I couldn't remove the key front the lock. I eventually got the key out but it wouldn't re-lock. I pushed the "jaws" and they easily clicked into the locked position but wouldn't unlock. So now the door is locked and open. Bugger. Taped the door shut and got home but now I'm not sure where to start. When I turn the key I can hear the motors whirring in the problem door but it won't unlock. All of the other doors are fine. Is there any manual release? What's my best course of action? All suggestions gratefully received! Quote
gregers Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 think you need to look in the rubber boot for broken/fraid wires, there are intructions in the faqs in the tech section. Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 (edited) Have you not tried the inside door handle. Obviously you have and no effect. If the motors are holding the thing locked, try disconnecting the battery. If all else fails you will have to remove the door panel and approach the job as if replacing the barrel. Your first comment suggests that this was sticking. ( might be worth trying WD40 and a good waggle with the key first) Somewhere on this site is a good description on how to change the lock barrel. When mine went thanks to a ham fisted low life that wrecked the lock and a lot more to steal my sat nav, I stripped and deactivated the key lock and just lived with it. The lock mechanisms are freely available on Ebay but they come without the barrel. It can be a s0d of a job unfortunately. Edited November 7, 2009 by Scorpiorefugee Quote
