davewill Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Ok, this is probably one of the most basic jobs there is on a car (apart from topping up the water bottle), but after spending 25 minutes changing a fuse on my Mkll Gal yesterday, what a pain in the arse it is  Basically the rear boot power point and the front power point were not working, so i thought it must be a fuse gone. Looked in the manual and found there were 2 fuses covering both these in the main fuse box under the steering wheel Opened up the fuse flap and then there was the plastic cover over the fuses. After 10 mins of trying to get this cover off i resorted to taking off the black piece of dash just above the brake pedal. This gave me better access.Managed to prise off the clear plastic fuse cover, but couldn't get it completely outHad just enough room to remove fuses 7 and 8 but getting the new ones in was like trying to thread cotten through a pin head. I've got large hands, and at one point i was thinking of asking my 11 year old lad to have a go, as his hands are a lot smaller. Anyway eventually managed to change both fuses and pushed a wiggled the clear fuse cover back on All in all 25 minutes and scraped knuckles, but at least everything is now working  Quote
