Head/side Light Switch Illumination

Hi, should the side/head light switch in the dash (MK1 Galaxy) be illuminated when the lights are switched on? I am only getting a light in the middle of the control knob for the lights, the panel dimmer and beam height adjuster are not lit up, is this normal? If not does the switch come apart to facilitate the fitment of a new bulb???

Had it to bits today and there is a bilb to light things up. Looks like it could be available but I found a small 12v bulb with wires on and soldered it in. switch now lights up!!!!!!
