Oil Level Warning Light

My amber oil level warning light comes on at random intervals, sometimes after a couple of days, sometimes after a couple of weeks. The oil level is always fine. Is this a sensor problem? if so can you point me to it so I can replace it.

I have the same problem and recently it has stayed on for days. I have done an oil n filter change but this has made no difference at all. I am having trouble locating the sensor so any help on where this is would be much appreciated. Also if i do find it or sort the problem I will be sure to post.

Take the undershield off, and look at the bottom of the sump - its the large hex shaped sensor thats fitted into the bottom of the sump. IIRC 2 bolts to remove and it comes out.... once you've drained the oil first!!!

Had this on my 2001 Tdi recently, amber light coming on all the time, changed the oil pressure switch on the filter housing, light came on amber then went to red, took the car back to the garage and they took it to Ford who disconnected the battery for a few hours, now fine (on that fault anyway)
