wackojackouk Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Hi guys Just purchased a 53 plate 1.9 TDI Ghia. Dealer had the Air Conditioning fixed recently as he said it was flashing for 10 seconds and would then go off. Checked it before I bought it and was nice and cool (or hot). However today I put it on face level only full speed and noticed that it wasn't that powerful coming out the vents. I also noticed that even on face level it still blows out the bottom as well on to your feet. Selected feet only and the face level vents stopped as I expected them to. Is this a fault or are the face level vents not that powerful. Anyone give me some tips please as I don't think the warranty will cover this. Thanks WJUK Quote

Thanks WJUK Hi WJ A little confused, are you saying its not cold enough or just not enough air ? you say on full speed it was not very powerful, have you checked the pollen filter ? as for the vents, I cannot answer your question, but if you had it on auto I would expect air out of all of them ! Radiotwo Sorry mate. It's reasonably cold just doesn't seem to be enough air on full power coming out when I select either Face Level or Demist (Windscreen) plus even if you select these it still blows out the bottom regardless. Just don't think it should be blowing out the footwell if I select windscreen or facevalue as well though Quote
mk2vr6 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 it shouldnt! sounds like you have a flap stuck! or the motors out of step? IIRC there is a way of checking the control motors operation by pushing the buttons on the control panel in the right order? if not its a trip to the stealers to get the codes read or find someone with vag com willing to do it for you Quote

Any idea what the order for pushing the buttons is so I can check? Just to clarify airflow is working through all three modes but just not powerful as it should be on demist and face height and with it blowing out the bottom all the time. Ps - How do you get to the flaps etc - do you need to strip the dash? Quote
mk2vr6 Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 you can get to the majority of the contol servo's/motors by removeing both glove boxes on the mk1 if you dont have the passenger air bag on the mk2 IIRC its a dash out job! there are pictures somewhere of a mk2 heater unit sitting on someones drive way with all the motors on show :angry2: Quote
