Hello,

I have a 2000 V reg 110bhp TDi Galaxy. All of the interior lights from the front one back to the boot have started to stay on once the doors have been opened and the engine started. They go out after about 10 min. All the other electrics are working normally.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

I'd like to go to the Fraud dealer with some knowledge of this, so I don't appear like one more ignorant punter that can be exploited.

Thanks for any help.

I'm thinking possibly a faulty relay?????

Hi Biscuit and thanks for your reply.

So is that a simple fix, pull out the old one and plug in a new one? Or is there a bit more to it?

I know nothing about electrics!

just a thought

do all the doors switch the lights on ? the 10 minute switch off is to save power and i would have thought it to use same relay

might just be a faulty door switch or broken cable

Hi bj2004,

Do you mean find the door that doesn't switch the lights on and that one might have the faulty door switch or broken cable. We've had wire problems on every door since we've had this car, looks like whoever wired it up was incompetent. :o

Do the mk III Galaxies have electrical/wiring problems too?

hi bushm

if i understand it correctly the system will look for no negative return from the door switches with the ignition on to extinguish the interior lights or no signal after 10 mins so if all the doors are shut but it still takes 10 mins for lights to go off it looks like there is still a door switch saying it is open or getting a negative feed which could be a cable shorted to earth

so yes the door that dosnt turn the lights on could be the problem

Great, that's something even I can test out. :o
