Hi,

Any solutions folks

Got a 1.9 tdi galaxy R REG WITH 196,000 on the clock. The blower has just recently syarted cutting out after running for a few minutes. If I turn it off for a while it will come back on, but will only run for a short while before cutting out again. Would be grateful for any possible solutions.

Would also be grateful if anyone knows where I can get a new spare wheel winch at a reasonable price.

Snap mine has just gone the same way. Has now stopped completely. No air through vents. Did this in the summer and wouldn't run cold air but seemed to start working OK til now

Maybe a loose connection at the blower, spare wheel winch can be bought pretty reasonably from ebay, look out for sellers who are breaking Galaxy's.

Blower bearings will have become tight - its almost impossible to oil them. There seems to be an overload cutout which permits short time working for a while as the bearing tightens up over time. Replacement of the unit is really easy - get a motor from ebay. Mk1 and Mk2 are ident. Make sure sender packs the fan carefully. The moulded on plastic impeller is brittle and easily trashed in the post
