Cruise Control! Where To Start?

I have had my X - reg (2000) petrol Mk11 2.3 galaxy for a few years now and the cruise control has never worked.

Feeling all keen now and want to see if i can get it working but don't know the best place to start!!

 

I'm sure it has cruise control as controls are on the left hand stalk, however when trying to engage the c,c i get nothing.

No light on dash or holding of vehicle speed.

 

Any ideas of where to start would be much appreciated as this is the wifes car most of the time and don't want to be ripping it to pieces without fixing it for her, i'd go hungry :ph34r: .

Absolutely loads of posts on this, i would start by looking for a perished hose on the cc pump which located behind the nearside indicator . :ph34r:

Replaced perished and split pipe, still no joy!!!! where now? any ideas anyone?
