Audio Unit

Hi all,does anyone know if its possible to remove the audio unit from a 2001 2.8 galaxy without the special tools. the mobile phone holder cable is splitting the lower dash and i want to take it out but it is connected to the radio. thanks t bag.

you could try using a metal coat hanger bent into shape?

You could try four slim nails - insert them then bend them outwards to depress the inner clips and gentle jiggle the unit out.

Thanks,not got any metal coat hangers but tesco have a set of assorted thin screwdrivers.will give it a go later.t bag

I know you didn't want to buy the specific tools but surely it's cheaper than buying a screwdiver set, most factors sell them ? Edited October 9, 2009 by mikej

Not proper screwdrivers just cheap thin ones,still no good.Went to ford, the tool is not on their parts list but they did it for me, free. thanks anyway.

Hi, just a quick update.the cables from the phone holder were connected to a small box with multi-pin plugs so it was easy to remove these without cutting any wires. Underneath the dash was broke along with 3 screw holes.some small brackets later and now all is silent.thank you t bag
