shorts Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 hi all, just got a 1999 2.3l galaxy zetec, the interior lights work if you use the switch to turn them on and off, however they don't come on when you open the door or unlock it, this includes the boot lights the middle light and the front light, the glove box light works as it should as do all the individual lights around the car. i have looked at the fuses and cant see any blown ones, if i press the little button on the door that tells the car if the door is open or not i can hear a relay working, all the wiring going into the boot seems to be in good condition, one of the open door switches is broken, the rubber top is gone and the black press button in the middle is missing, however having borrowed one of theses from someone else's car it didn't help. any help or advise will be much appreciated. cheers shorts Quote

durnf Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Have You tried the central locking/courtesy light controller (Usually under the front passenger seat)?Slide the seat forwards as far as it will go and remove the floor panel under the rear of the seat. There is a black box with two multi-plugs. this fails when it gets wet and Galaxies are notorious for this.Water comes through the dash bulkhead and down into the front footwell and slops over, on acceleration, into this area. (newer models have this gizmo sited up under the drivers dash to keep it dry).A replacement costs Quote
andywhi Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 I have a very similar problem - wondering if a solution was found? Quote
ed_dean Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 i have just started having a problem with the courtesy lights in my R reg galaxy Ghia the courtesy lights dont always turn off after the engine is started. they do eventually but it takes about 5 minutes. its a it anoying as people can see in the boot and foot wells at night enventually they do go out. could this be the start of a similar problem as above? there is no water in the footwells at and as far as the wires in the door gaters goes they seem fine although i have only checked them once mind. If you loose the central locking, the interior lights, the direction indicators and perhaps other stuff, look at the 3A fuse in the fuse box close to the battery. This applies at least to the 1.9Tdi 2003 Galaxy. Quote

Same symptoms - no CL/indicators/interior lights. Little box with next to the battery with 3 fuses in looks like the 3A fuse is blown. I must have shorted out the indicators when I was messing about with them and popped this fuse :) Should mention I have a 2003 tdi as well... Cheers,Nick Quote
