Hi

I have just bought a Galaxy 2000 Zetec which is in superb condition but the drivers seat is very soft and unsupportive. No tears and doesnt look too worn (done 100k) but uncomfortable. Does any one know if they can be taken apart and maybe foam added? If not how much for a new one or does someone know where I can get it refurbed in hertfordshire/bedfordshire?

Thanks!

Depends on your experience / aptitude but I've taken the seats apart before and its not that difficult. You'll need some meaty pliers to remove the pigtail rings which hold the cover on and some good quality strong cable ties to resecure it unless you are able to reuse them (unlikely). Once the base cover is off then you could either replace the foam base panel with a new one from Ford or pack it out with additional foam. The problem with the latter is that you'll have to stop it moving about by glueing it to the original base and that could give you further problems if you get it wrong.

I have no personal experience of using them, but these people replied promptly when I enquired about upholtery repairs for my Alhambra. You problem sounds like it needs more extensive work than I asked for. I was quoted

whats the front passenger seat like? you could always swap the two over! the seat backs are removable from the bases so it would be possible to swap them over and keep the air bags operational

Just wondered.

if the backs of the seats are removable, is it possible to just change the seat back of the drivers seat for one off one of the rear seats ?

I only ask as the bolster is worn on the drivers seat

is it possible to change seat backs ?

no due to different recliner mechs and general shape and hieght of the seat back of the rear seat compared to the front seats
