Guest boomoottna1 Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 99 (V) 1.9TDi - I am pulling my hair out - The front wipers do not work, the back wipers are OK, all the water sprays work. I have tried checking the all the fuses, they seem to be OK. How do I check the motor, or, is there a relay that controls the wipers on this model. Hopefully someone can help. Also the VW motors are much cheaper - is there a VW wiper that will fit this model ? Quote
Buncers Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 I just had a wiper and blower problem and traced it down to a relay. Might not be your problem, but if you need to know where the relays are, have a look at http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/Forum/index.php?showtopic=1898 Good luck. Quote
seatkid Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 (edited) Buncers, different electrics for 98-99 Models... For vehicle built to 09/98, Double check F29 (5A) , F8 (30A) and K162 Relay (located in central junction box) For vehicle built after 09/98, Double check F33 (25A or 30A after 09/99), no relay fitted. seatkid Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 boomoottna1, in reply to your email, it could be the load reduction relay (k149 - R26 - central junction box, bottom panel) but are you sure you checked fuse 33? Quote
Guest boomoottna1 Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 I have spent alot of time on this problem because the local dealer wanted Quote
Guest wolfman62 Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 My front wipers have started to play up. Stopped altogether the other day after a jetwash. Today in heavy rain would run at normal speed then slow and judder almost stopping then run okay again. Any ideas please. Quote
Nige F Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Might be your wiper motor that has packed up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Guest boomoottna1 Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Check the motor, its ok. Put straight 12v across it. Quote
italiastar Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 My neighbour had a similar problem on his 3 year old MK 1 Alhambra. The technician at the dealer replaced the motor to no avail. FOUR months later (It took that long to get the parts - honest) and they replaced the siezed linkage - why didn't they un-sieze it I hear you ask - I don't know I'm not a highly trained, expensive technician. Good Luck, Gerald Quote
Guest wolfman62 Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 I removed the motor and gear drive etc. I found that the electronics board on the unit was half covered in mildew??? The board is covered in a clear rubber coating which i cannot remove. I covered the lot in wd40 including all connections then put it all back together. It seems to be okay at the moment but only ime will tell. I will also lube all the linkages I think. Quote
seatkid Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 For benefit of boomoottna1.... Wiper motor electrics 1999 year Quote
Guest boomoottna1 Posted April 26, 2004 Report Posted April 26, 2004 Finally found the problem - It was the wiper control electronics attached to the motor it self. Went to intapart and got a new motor and control board for Quote
