powerdog Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) HI allI am new here and have looked through 100 pages of the technical section and found some information soI have looked under the near side light and have not seen any part of the cruise control. I did have a problem with my break switch, I pulled it out and it now works, I did the same with my clutch pedalThe cruise control has never worked since I got the vehicleI'd normally fix everything on my vehicle but this is my first galaxy and I'm not sure what to look for and where. any help much appreciatedAndy Edited September 19, 2009 by powerdog Quote
Bigjeeze Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 The two main components you can check are the brake & clutch switches - The cruise control on the TDI is electronic not vacuum driven. Check the switch on the stalk and the connectors. If it still doesn't work you need someone with VAG Com to see whats not working. Quote
big_kev Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 any help much appreciatedAndy Hi Andy, First of all which part of the world are you in.....your profile says Scotland....but this is the default and not everyone changes it.....there may be someone local to you with vagcom, who can help. Secondly do you only have 1 brake switch ?.....some models have 2 . Quote
powerdog Posted September 19, 2009 Author Report Posted September 19, 2009 Wow you guys are great at responding Hi big kev I am between London and Holland at the moment I'm in Holland I only saw one break switch looked like it had 4 wires going to it I will check tomorrow Hi Bigjeeze it's a bit confusing around here the technical section is massive.VAG No I have got one of those are there any simple things I can check for ? powerdog Posted September 19, 2009 Author Report Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) one thing I forgot to mention I got the car cheap because it had been involved in an accident, with very light damage but it was enough to set both airbags off. is there something in the airbag sensor that disconnects the cruise control ? I also had a lot of fun with the seatbelt pre-tensioners I managed to remove them so they work like normal seatbelt and it passed the MOT Andy Edited September 19, 2009 by powerdog Quote

Worth getting VagCom as its cheap ( usb cables all over Ebay ) and the software is free from Ross-tech.Com It will allow you to check what faults are on the vehicle a lot easier than trial and error.
