seanwhu Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Hi can anyone tell me the size of the spark plug gap for a 2.3 mk2 ? thanks Quote
marcostig Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Hi ive never checked gap since the 80s..no point ..new plugs like these last about 25,000 miles and some, thats a few years for some..then change em again. Quote
gizmo.john Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 When you buy new plugs tell them what cc and year your galaxy is and the plugs they supply will have the right gap. Quote
mikej Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 If you really want to know it's 1mm :D Quote
seanwhu Posted September 20, 2009 Author Report Posted September 20, 2009 If you really want to know it's 1mm :DThanks all The car has done 76k and is 2001. I imagine its still on original plugs and leads. Fuel consumption is around 22 mpg round town and about 33 on a run, not sure if thats good or bad but thought hey lets spoil the car with some new plugs as a starter. MOT due this month as well. thanks Quote
chromedome Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 I think you need a special tool to get the plug leads off. No doubt someone with more knowledge than me will put you right. Quote
gregers Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 iirc you need a plug spanner, check this post out sean.http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...hl=plug+spanner Quote
mikej Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) What, special tool :D i have a mk2 2.3 and never used any special tools in four years, and yes changed the plugs every 10k miles (NGK's BKR 6EVX) have found it helps to take the plug cover off first :D seriously though a plug socket, extension and ratchet if these come under special tools :D couldn't be easier. Why don't you splash out and buy it an air filter as well then you may get a bit more mpg, the most i had on petrol was 36 but i use LPG now most of the time however 33's not bad considering it hasn't been serviced in a while. chromedome Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 I'm sure I've read somewhere on this forum over the years that the spark plug caps are difficult to remove and some tool was needed, maybe it's the V6. I've given and received a lot of advice on this forum over time and the comments just struck as a low blow, however, I've now calmed down. Keep up the good work everybody. Quote
