Guest r.vernon1 Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Hi, You guys seem to be the best place to ask as what Ford and an Auto electrician have told me differ so its time for a third opinion. I brought my N reg mondeo about 1 week ago from a dealer and the remote central locking doesn't work. The man at the garage replaced the battery, and when he sold it to me told me about it. I took it to Ford who think it is either the wiring along side the passenger doors or the offside door sensors. Either way they said it would cost me about Quote
Guest fixmyford Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Hi Rob!Have you tried to programme the remote yourself? If not this is what you do.Turn ignition on to acc position 1 till the red clock led stays on, take the key out and shut the door, point the key at the drivers door, press and hold the unlock button on the fob until the fob led lights up then whilst still holding the unlock button press the lock button 3 times, release both buttons and the both sets of leds should flash in unison....If this doesnt work fom the drivers try the passengers door! If this doesnt work borrow a friends remote,FIESTA,PUMA,MONDEO all the same, and try programming that. obviously if that works then its a new remote!Note if you do need a new remote you dont need a key set simply take the PATS (passive anti theft) microchip from the old one and put into the new remote. If its not the remote then this age MONDEO suffered with water damage to the wiring in the drivers side footwell. Remove the kick trim and raise the carpet to expose the floor pan, you will find the main loom and usually water has broken some of the wires...give a pull on EACH wire the affected ones will fall apart usually with green corrosion visable, simply cut out and solder new lengths in as required. Oh - the clock led staying on more than 5 secs is normal on this age(if the alarm system is ok) as the software was changed (interior sensors deleted)You can disconnect the multiplugs at the control unit which will bring it back to a 5 sec light on but it will revert back at some stage. If you need any more please contact fixmyford.co.uk Quote
Guest r.vernon1 Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 Hi m8, Thanks for the reply buddy. I have tried self programming but the problem I have is that when the red led goes off after 20 secs, and I turn the key to position 1, the led doesn't come back on no matter how long I leave it, I have left I for arounf 2 mins before, so I have never managed to self program my remote. I think it is the remote as the self test (holding one of the buttons down for a few secs) doesn't always illuminate the light on the key. I may get this sorted in the future, but if the fob is around Quote
Guest fixmyford Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 Rob, yes there is a simple self test for the alarm.Press the bonnet pin switch 8 times in ten seconds, an audible beep should be heared, then open the doors one at a time. one beep should be sounded for each door, with the key lock the drivers door two beeps should sound, unlock the drivers door two beeps should sound, the same from the passengers door, finally the tailgate, put the key in the lock and turn to unlock, abeep should sound and as the tailgate opens another beep should sound. This prceedure shold be carried out with less than twenty seconds between each ooperation or it will exit self test mode. If you can get into s/t mode from the bonnet try onenig/closing the door 8 times in 10 secs, as the bonnet swich could be faulty. Each beep indicates the correct operation of the system switches in that door, if no beep is noted then this is the fault area. It could be worth disconnecting the conrol unit multi plugs (black box above the throttle pedal) to clear any "scrambling" of the module software, then retry the remote programming. Hope its of use!fixmyford Quote
