right have finally had enough of my front drivers window after yet again it failed, took everything apart and finally found that the wire had been bent up and unravelled a bit in the motor,a bit along the lines of these posts,

http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...hl=window+motor

http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...hl=window+motor

now do i require just the regulator and do the wires come with it?

or do i also need a new motor?

i had a good look and tried to flatten the wires but i think where they sit in the plastic holder(motor)is now rather worn.

so which do i need ?

also i have read here some conflicting opinions on wether the mk1 gubbins will fit a mk2 some say it will others say no,SO what is the real result on the findings?

any help plz peeps

regards gregers

any 1 got the complete unit sitting in there garage that they want to part with?

Hi Gregers

I am not sure what you need But I noticed this when I was searching for something else:

I cannot see one for your car, but a phone call might help

Here's another one, again not listed as mk1 or mk2. Pretty cheap though. You can always ask Fords to see if there is a difference between the mk1 an mk2.

STEVE thats the same link you kindly gave last night buddy ;)

right ive had an idea???

do you think it will be possible to obtain the wire and thread it myself?was thinking of paying a visit to my local cycle shop a proper 1,from years back i seem to remmember you could make up your own cables dunno if you still can,as only 1 side of the cable is fubared wonder if you think its a gooden or not?.

there is only 1 scrappy near me and finding a gal there is like finding rocket horse poo.

No harm in trying,is there if you can get into the gubbins of the motor?

What a few quid for the cable but hell of alot of manual labour involved, but i suppose if you suceed then that would be an achievement and a great sense of personal satisfaction.

Go for it and good luck.

well hunted hi and lo at various outlets to see if i could get some cabling made up,the local motorbike shop said they do make cables up but alas it was thicker then the cable i had and probably not bend easily round the runners,

even phoned up gsf and was qouted

gregers, you still looking for a window regulator and wondering if the mk1 fits a mk2?

Well this person is selling them on ebay and according to his listing the same regulator fits both mk's from 1995-2004. He is expensive (brand new) but i'm sure you can get a second hand one cheaper.

thanx for that saif, yes still looking, but not at that price.

im sure ill find 1 at a price im willing to pay, been emailing peeps for prices and some have been comming back at really stupid money,or there the mk1 being advertised for the mk 2.

RIGHT AN UPDATE,and fingers crossed its now mended

obtained a mk1 passenger motor and regulator, got it cheap off ebay,

as my motor is fine i thought id cannibilize the new 1,well for future reference the wires from the mk1 are exactly the same length as the mk 2 and so is the serated plastic spool found in the motor, after a lot of buggering about sorting out what goes where etc i now have a perfectly working drivers window(fingers crossed),

so the moral is if you are having similar problems and its only the wires that have overun and stripped the plastic spool you can use the gubbins from a mk 1 to rectify the problem, especially as the prices i was getting back were iro upwards of
