bootsie Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Has anybody had similar symptoms and got away with cleaning up the linkage or does this have to be replaced generally. Seems very expensive quoted Quote
Saif Rehman Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Well known fault with these vehicles! Click on my signature where it begins "FAQ's...................." and you will probably find an answer at No. 45 & 68Linkages, if yours is totally buggered can be easily bought from ebay. Let us know how you get on. P.S. Oh, by the way, welcome to the forum! Quote
mikej Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 (edited) Take it out and refurb/clean it up like most of us on here. Done mine over two years ago now and still going strong and at the time it had seized completely. It's not that difficult if you willing to give it a go and most of the info or advice you need can be found on this site like already mentioned. Got to be worth a try and it's cheaper ! When you strip it use plenty of quality grease prior to rebuild. Edited September 11, 2009 by mikej Quote

marcostig Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Dont buy nothing!!! strip it out takes less than an hour, dont use a hammer, hold spindle caseing in a vise work out the spindle part it takes time and wd40 but once it starts to go it will come out, clean out all the crap inside metal flakes come off the spindle and cause the problem and dried out grease 2 different metals dont like each other.I filed my spindle shaft abit to allow grease some room when put back together.job done in about 2 1/2 hours..need to do this, i would say 1 to 2 years its a crap design.
