Guest coops Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Hi i've just joined this very informative forum and have a question for you galaxy lovers !.i've found a '97 2.3 ghia that seems to good to be true. The only problem, and it's quite a big problem, is the interior used on the seats and door panels etc. it's very beige and 'flowery' !!. Does anybody know if / where / cost of replacing all the seats and material trim used on the door panels etc ??????sounds absolutley mad but, depending on cost / availability, might be worth considering for what appears to be a bargain. thanks for your time. cheers Quote
Guest Idris Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 dont know about recovering, but a quick search for "Ford Galaxy" on eBay will give you an idea about replacement seats if that helps? Quote
Dave-G Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 You might do better to look at breakers yards, but I think you'll then also need need to change the interior plastics to match :( probably better to find a gal with an acceptable colour scheme, makes you wonder what some people will accept huh? :o Quote
italiastar Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 I agree with the last comment. you can get odd seats on ebay and if your lucky to get one that you need and it matches your car you've got a bargain, but I've never seen a complete set. If the car is really a bargain (why do you think this) then why not go for it - after all, in reality it's for driving, not looking at. A compromise could be to get professionally fitted seat covers (no not the stretchy things from Halfords) but these could set you back several hundred pounds - if you're interested I did have details of a company that did this. If the car's worth it, then think about going for it and foget the colour - that's probably why you're getting it cheap. Ok resale value will be diminished, but it will still have a value. Good luck Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 If the car's worth it, then think about going for it and foget the colour - True, if you can live with it go for it! I think any interior is ok, well apart from the blue fluffy velour one! when my friend was looking a Galaxy we test drove a 2.3 that was fully loaded CC, 6 electric windows, sunroof, cruise control, heated seats, programable aux heater! full history but the fluffy blue interior :( he would have signed on the dotted line but the interior put him off! rwtomkins Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 ditto. unless you're unbelievably lucky you're never going to get a perfect spec on the second-hand market. the only way to get that is to buy new and take a hit on the depreciation. if you really have found a bargain, i would just be thankful and go for it - i bet you won't even notice the interior seat colour scheme after the first few weeks, and anyway, trying to change it would be hopelessly impractical and expensive.
