tigers238 Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Our 05 1.9 TDi auto went in for a replacement alternator last week. Unfortunately I was away at the time so when the car emerged from the garage, the wife - bless her - tried to re-set the radio with what she thought was the right code. After 2 attempts - so she tells me - the system went to SAFE although my manual tells me it should be 10 attempts. I have tried in vain to get the correct code in - we have all the original documentation complete with radio code which I last used perfectly happily when I changed the battery in July - but it remains steadfastly in SAFE mode. Any suggestions as to next steps gratefully received as I have little faith in the local Ford dealership (Salisbury). Thanks. Quote

If its the same as the mondeo (which I think they are) then she's enterered it incorrectly 3 times and its in semi lockout mode. You need to leave the ignition on (pos 2, engine hasn't got to be running) and radio on for 30 minutes, it'll then allow another attempt but if thats incorrect you'll be locked out for another 30 mins. gregers Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 i have deleted the other post as there is no need to post multiple posts on the same subject and as this 1 has had responses. have yu done a search on here about your problem?are you sure you have the correct code?if after you still have no luck them i suggest you allow the unit to accept the code but pay a visit to your local dealer with proof of ownership and ask if they could have a go.they done mine when i had some problems and they didnt charge me,so who knows they may feel charitable with you as well.hth. either that or pay your local ice company to recode it. tigers238 Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 The reason why there were multiple posts (2!) is - I think - beacuse your "Reply" option is somewhat clumsy and I managed to simply re-post rather than reply to Mirez - and yes: thank you for the blindingly obvious suggestion of seraching the site. I did do that first - without success. In any event, case closed - as the suggestion from Mirez the Mondeo owner worked - after about an hour. Mirez - thank you. i have deleted the other post as there is no need to post multiple posts on the same subject and as this 1 has had responses. have yu done a search on here about your problem?are you sure you have the correct code?if after you still have no luck them i suggest you allow the unit to accept the code but pay a visit to your local dealer with proof of ownership and ask if they could have a go.they done mine when i had some problems and they didnt charge me,so who knows they may feel charitable with you as well.hth. either that or pay your local ice company to recode it. gregers Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 well you must be the only person who cant reply properly.i think the reply button is quite obvious, but if your not happy send a message to the admin im sure there change the layout and format just for you.and your repost was in 2 seperate sections and the blindingly obvious is somewhat not as there is aslo an archive section that has a few thousand posts. glad your problem is sorted. tigers238 Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 I just love the sarcastic note of your reply. While I might have had trouble replying at least I can spell and capitalise which clearly is a bit of a challenge for you. Be a good chap - don't let the heady responsibility of being a moderator go to your head. well you must be the only person who cant reply properly.i think the reply button is quite obvious, but if your not happy send a message to the admin im sure there change the layout and format just for you.and your repost was in 2 seperate sections and the blindingly obvious is somewhat not as there is aslo an archive section that has a few thousand posts. glad your problem is sorted. A newbie comes on, pays nothing and expects everything, and then feels it's appropriate to complain when the level of service (poor spelling and capitalisation) doesn't meet their expectations. Mirez and Gregers, you helped this guy out .. what'll be your attitude next time? Quote
Mirez Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 For me, I'll continue to help everyone that I can - thats my nature and I believe the internet should be free for all. But then tigers was very civil to me so I've got no problem at all - I've been an admin (7 years now gulp) of fordmondeo.org (36,000 active members btw) for long enough to take forum posts with a pinch of salt - emotions and expressions never work properly when you are reading something so I don't take anything personally. Quote

I shall aspire to your level or tolerance Mirez. While I'd not become concerned by any replies I feel that it's hard to accept outright rudeness and ingratitude without a change in attitude. There are many who become frustrated with their cars and start to see support forums almost as an extension of the dealer service that should be provided by their car manufacturer .. they need to think again. Mirez Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I shall aspire to your level or tolerance Mirez. If only I had that much tolerance in my day-to-day life! I certainly take your point about the role of support forums though, there are many that truely do believe they owe nothing to the forum and that it should bend over backwards for them. I can't help to wonder that if they take that attitude with a forum its no wonder they get such "interesting" service from a main dealer. I always try and be polite and tollerable with any company I deal with and, in general, I get the service I expect as a result. Quote
