Rebecca Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 I have just bought an N reg Galaxy from my sister in law, which with a lot of tlc has scrubbed up ok. The sunroof doesn't work, but I can live with that, but the fans don't seem to do anything, so it gets a bit steamy, and I will have 3 very grumpy children if I don't sort out heating before the weather turns. Is there anything I should try myself, or should I just take it to a garage? Thanks.x Quote
big_kev Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Could be a blown fuse or more likely a faulty resistor pack. ( behind lower glove box ) Do you have Automatic or manual air-con ( dials for fan speed etc ). Quote
gregers Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 try as big kev has said, whats up with the sunroof?there is a very detailed fix for the sunroof in the faqs in the tech section . Quote
mike634949 Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 If there is no fan at all (all four speeds) - first check the fuse. If the fuse is okay its probably the motor. You can get them on ebay (but they're vulnerable in the post due to the brittle plastic fan). Fitting it though is really simple - a 10 minute job. Resistor packs tend to fail three out of four speeds but leave you with speed 4 only. Quote
Rebecca Posted October 7, 2009 Author Report Posted October 7, 2009 Could be a blown fuse or more likely a faulty resistor pack. The fans in the back seem to work at high speeds, but the front, and windscreen clearing ones don't do anything.... Will give it a go. Quote
Rebecca Posted October 7, 2009 Author Report Posted October 7, 2009 Thanks everyone, I really really appreciate the replies. I'm going to have a go with the fuse etc. It is manual air con (dials etc). As for the sunroof, I'm not sure, it doesn't work at all, we had to take the panel off to get it shut.... Quote
