commandomark Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 If your on about the big plastic undertray, there are a few bolts located around the edge of the part. Undo them and it will fall off. Best of luck !!!!!! Quote

Can someone tell how to remove the plastic cover to get to the sump plug I would like to change the oil Hi John,Welcome, To remove the engine undertray there are 6 bolts, you need an extension on your 10mm socket to get to the side ones (2 on each side) and it a bit of a strech on your back to undo the rear. But make sure you refit it after as it's a vital bit of protection for the PAS belt etc etc from the water and debris on the roads. Quote
jkspoff Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 I prefer to use one of these (link below), I don't even get my hands dirty and don't need to remove the undertray or sump plug, as a tube slots down the dip stick hole and sucks it all out, right down to the sump, then you can suck out the oil remaining in the oil filter housing too.http://www.gelplane.co.uk/pelapumps/6000use.asp Quote

sparky Paul Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) I've got the big version of the Pela pump, and I can tell you it is an absolutely brilliant device... ...if it works on your car. It works on everything else I've used it on, but the pipe won't go to the bottom of the 2.3 petrol engine. Damn Ford engine... :) As far as I know, it works fine on the VW diesels. Prices are around Edited August 29, 2009 by sparky Paul Quote
marinabrid Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 i made a 3 sided cut in the .plastic tray under the sump nut, the plastic then folds down to allow access then just push back into place. not as easy as a pump but cheaper and saves having to remove tray. Quote
