Guest kev140766 Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 My '97 2.0 petrol's reversing light does not stay on once you have let go of the gear stick. ( my wife almost found this out the hard way in a car park !!) In order to keep the light on i have to hold the lever over to one side. It appears the swithch os on top of the gearbox. Has anyone had this before or managed to get to the switch without removing almost everything under the bonnet? :o Quote

Guest nimrod Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 LOL :o I have the link on how to refix the engine mount page ready to paste if needed :( Quote
Guest kev140766 Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 No need to be sarcastic!! Go on then tell me why i shouldn't remove the battery tray ? ( not that i was going to ) Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 The engine mount on that side is held in place by the same bolts! and when you undo the bolts the engine drops away making it hard to get the bolts back in due to them not being long enough to reach and pull it back up into place! can you see the reversing switch and get to it without removeing anything? Guest kev140766 Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 I can just see the switch, but cannot get to it. B) Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 why not? I can get to mine on my V6! admittedly I have to remove the coil pack in order to gain access but it is possible to get at at arms reach! Quote
Guest kevinmac Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 if you remove the battery tray all you have to do is put an axle stand or jack under the gearbox to support it. This wil give you greater access did my 2.8 vr6 sharan at the weekend Quote
