snowytop Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 Hi again, I'm considering buying a fault code reader for my 1998 1.9 TD to try to locate this awkward fault we still have ( Fuel smoke). Can anyone suggest a type please. Are these 1998 galaxy's OBD 2 compliant ? Does it need to be VAG COM ( whatever that is ) that I hear you experienced people talking about, or can a different type do the job ? Took the advice of one of you guys and went looking on E-bay last night at the handheld readers, theres loads. Can anyone cut through the big words and acronyms and suggest what we need for our motor please. Any advice would be very helpful please. Many Thanks. Quote
sepulchrave Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 Get VAG-COM, a serial lead of ebay and an elderly laptop if you don't already have one. That way you'll be speaking the same language as everyone else here when you have a problem. Quote
big_kev Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 Ask the sellers on ebay if it will work with your car. Quote
