Definitely sounds like an HT ignition issue, I'd persevere with the coil pack/lead avenue of investigation.

many thanks, as this only has two actual HT leads, am i correct that there is a third that goes off to the back of the engine somewhere ? can this be bought seperate as i went to buy a HT kit and they said there were only two in the kit ?? Many thanks

On the 2.3 there are only two HT leads, there are two coil packs directly above two of the spark plugs, and the two HT leads connect these to the other two plugs.

If you remove the centre lid from the rocker cover, all will be revealed.

Yeah ive replaced both coils & plugs im sure there was a extra HT lead coming off the Left hand coil (O/S) and it passed the other coil then looked as if it went into a wiring harness ? Any Ideas

There's no other HT leads under the cover, only the two I mentioned... the others are LT cables which come from the wiring loom and plug into the coils.
