Veejay Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 I was shocked to find out from 1st service today that my two front tyres are illegal. Tyres were rated : 0mm for outer and 0mm inner depth and 2mm for middle.Tyre make is Continental 225/50 17 W(98)Back tyres are fine at 5/6/6. Car is a 58 Gal Ghia 2.0 TDCI Auto Is this normal Wear for this Tyre Make and Vehicle or do I have a wheel alignment problem? Any advice on a better tyre make will be appreciated. big_kev Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 Lots of rumours about run flat tyres. Very rough hard ride. Wear out quickly, and of course more expensive. Just rely on your spare.......on no you can't..... :16: Quote

You mean to say that before you took the car for service that you hadn't looked at the tyres to see they were practically bold! Especially being the front ones considering they are only a few feet away from the drivers door..................... Quote
Mirez Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) Decided to risk it for a couple of days while I look for a better replacement. Thats a hell of a risk, Edited August 23, 2009 by Mirez Quote
gregers Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 i think from reading about run flats they tend to give a false sense of security over not checking the pressures regulary,ie have a look yeah there ok,when clearly they arnt and wearing down.so maybe a lesson learnt allbeit an expensive 1 is check your rubber often, bearing in mind this is the only thing that keeps you on the road safley, and as said previoulsy even more expensive if caught. Veejay Posted August 24, 2009 Author Report Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) Never Had a Ford before!Tyres on all my previous motors (people carriers) lasted more than a year, hence I was expecting the same from Ford!As this is my first service on the Galaxy, I now know to check the tyres...Who knows it could have been illegal after six months!
