i just cant justify spending nearly 800 quid on repairing her when she only cost me just over 1k.

That's fair enough.

Out of interest... have you considered another Galaxy? There's some cheap mk.1s about now, and they do seem to hold up well if reasonably looked after. Or did you prefer the Toyota?

Now now boys.. the number i put on the add is an old one, i have 2 phones yer know. :P

So far, no odd calls, no rude texts ( shame) just daft questions.

Oh and some numpty bid on the wheel nut.LOL. You know who you are :D

Im going to look at a car this eve in the west midlands, its another estima, and pretty cheap. comes with mot till feb, tax till jan. That will do me for now.

I have to say, with the parts that have sold from my car.. its enough to get the cambelt changed on the next one! Quite a little money machine really.

I am getting her towed to a yard later on today where i can finish stripping parts off her, im not going daft and taking everything off her though. just going to spend 2 days foing it. then scraping her.If i get her weighed in, should get another 150 quid for the carcass.

It is a shame this has happened, as looking at other estimas around here.. some are just rust buckets on wheels where mine has mint body work. One im going to look at is not in mint condition body work wise hence low price.. but it will get me mobile untill i can get another better car.

well..at least Now you all know how to get hold of me.LOL

By the way..yesterday.. i went a whole day with no nicotine patch on..and the kids are still alive!!.woohoo!!

the wheel nut bid wasn't me.....but i do want to ask what exactly does it mean when someone puts 'wheel nut' in the title on an ebay listing?
Posted
It means, that if you bid..you will win a wheel nut. When someone breaks a car, they will either do one ad saying ring email for details.. and coz you have to put it up in an auction you dont want people bidding on it. so...you put in the description that if they bid, they are bidding on a wheel nut!

glad your weighing it in and not just taking it to the car brakers, about 6 mths back my f/in law had a large volvo and took it to the scrappys and got offered about 40 quid,he drove it on to there weigh bridge and got 150 quid.

good luck in your hunt for anoter mota, dont you think you should try and get hold off a galaxy at least you know how to work on them?.

What's this, the busiest thread for a non-galaxy owner with self-inflicted injuries? ;)

There are two easy ways to kill a perfectly good car, one is to let it run out of oil, the other is to fail to change a cambelt.

Now for the sympathetic advice:

Since you have bought another non-galaxy, might I humbly suggest that, unless you are absolutely CERTAIN that the cambelt has been changed according to the manufacturer specified schedule (...and I don't mean verbal reassurances!), you get the cambelt and oil changed without delay on this replacement vehicle.

Lightning can strike twice. ;)
