Hi,

First post on your great site :(.

Just buying what I believe to be a Galaxy 2.3 Ghia, well thats what the AA & Insurance say it is, however the dealer says its a Ghia X ?. Its a 2.3 Auto petrol 1999 on a V plate, it has a CD player and crusie control ?, but no sun roof.

Its a high milage @ 102,000 but 1 owner looks like a company with what the dealer says is a full history.

Can someone tell me what model it is and would

Hi, I think their are one or two differences between a Ghia and Ghia X model. I`m not too sure but I think the X has heated seats and there other things too but I can`t remember what ! My Ghia also has the bubbling black strips on three of the doors. I think the only way of getting rid of the problem is to replace the stips. I havn`t priced them yet, but I notice on earlier models the problem doesn`t seem to occur, so if they`ll come off a damaged vehicle without bending out of shape, it may be better and cheaper to go about it that way. The trouble is, finding Galaxy`s that are being broken. There don`t appear to be many in the North.

Most Ghia-X models have a badge saying Ghia-X on their front wings.

I think the question of trim levels has been covered before, have you tried a search on the forum for Ghia-X?

If by bubbling, you mean the black bits on the door frames, these are sticky plastic (certainly on the facelifted models), and I've not seen any bubbling myself. It could mean that the doors have been repaired (badly).

Thanks for the replies,

The strips are the ones up the door between the door frame and the glass about 1/2" wide maybe slightly more, there is a little tag sticking out on them on the rear doors. Would be nice to change them as they spoil the looks of the car, as I mentioned before I have seen several with same defect. Don't think its repaired damage as this part of the door is below the main door level. Wish my camera hadn't broke I could have took a snap shot, anyway it sounds like it can be replaced which is good news, I was thinking it was a main part of the door assembly.

The part you mention if I'm thinking of the same parts as you are replaceable, the bubbling is the metal strip inside the rubber corroding, the sticking out tag is to stop the glass popping out of the seal when its wound back up if you look closely on the bottom strip you can just see the bubbles :o time to replace mine I think?

Thats the one :o.

Least we are singing of the same hymn sheet :). Have you any idea how much these items cost ?, and are they easy to change ? good with mechanics so should be capable.

Have brought the fore-mentioned car today but won't get for a few more days yet.... good job I am older and more patient :o .

Anyway thanks for clearing up my problem and I hope you get yours sorted soon, looking forward to playing with all the new buttons control etc.

Hi

I also have a post-T reg (V) 2.3 "Ghia X", bought 3 years ago. It was pre-registered by Ford with low mileage. It lacks the true Ghia X heated front seats (not particularly missed, I must say).

Does anyone know why these cars are not covered in the price guides? The badges say Ghia-X, but presumably they are not totally accurate.

Cheers.

This may be a silly question, I am not a car expert.

I purchased a 2.8 V6 Galaxy on a N plate a few months ago, according to all the paperwork I have, log book, hpi check etc it is listed as a GLX. Reading this forum the specs appear very close to the Ghia X, ie heated front seats etc

Does anyone know what the difference is between a GLX and a Ghia or Ghia X? It's not important I'm just courious.
