Guest metalmickey Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Hi Nimrod Nice pic. How was it to fit? Did you have to drop the full headlining? Are the wires easy to route? Cheers Chris PS. I'm seriously thinking of buying an in-dash dvd player/fm tuner. I have found the 'For You dvd200' at www.merconnet.com and also the Innovatek DVD0181 at www.mp3playerstore.com. Does anyone know which is better, or can suggest an alternative? Also, i've bought from Merconnet before and was very happy, is mp3playerstore okay too? Quote
Guest nimrod Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 It wasnt as bad a job as I was led to believe! removing ans replaceing the headlining wasnt that hard a job! I went for this system due to its simplicity! on most systems you have to run several cables to and from each piece of equipment, this system has an all in one multi pin plug that does it all, the power, the audio and vision signal cable are all integrated into one main cable and plug :o the only seperate cables needed to be run were the main power supply to the dvd player and the link to the existing interior light Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 I had mine fitted at Prestwood Motors when I bought the car, I stayed and watch the guy do it out of curiosity and making sure he didnt mess up !!! Its compact and folds away very neatly.Folds up automatically on the remote control when you are sick of the Tweenies movie or Lion King.....Hakuna Matata Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 And the DVD unit is mounted where the jack goes. Quote
ALARM MAN Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Hi chaps I fitted but never removing roof lining You can do it by removing trim around sunroof and Lhd door seal use coat hanger to thread wires to sunroof trim put small slash in headling and feed wire throughthere is enough room to pull headlining down to see roof strut mark headlining and drill into this screw up and hey prestoRun wire down door seal and replace seal so wire can the come down to footwell dvd fits in below original spare slot under factory radioplug and play !!! I found www.mp3playerstore.com It was the + Bundle Promo:Innovatek FD-16In-dash CAR DVD Player+IN-700B TFT LCDROOFMOUNT Bundle 399$GREAT CHOICE! http://www.mp3playerstore.com/stuff_you_ne...ial/IN-700B.htm And remember the dollar rate i think your in for a damn good price And the stuff is spot on.. Guest metalmickey Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Hi Ian Thanks for the extra info, I was a bit put off about dropping the full headlining so glad to hear it can be done without needing to. Just out of interest, how quick did mp3playershop: a) Confirm your order and supply the tracking number?B) Actually deliver the items? I only ask as I ordered on Wed (7/4/04) and immediately received an email saying that once my purchase had been validated I would receive a further email with tracking number etc. So far I haven't received anything further (to be fair they haven't charged my card yet). I'm one of those impatient types, so waiting is agony!!!! Cheers Chris Quote
Guest nimrod Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Come on Ian lets see some pictures of the install B) Quote

Guest skidd Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Look like there are a few DVD kits around on ebay with 2 screens for headrest mounting. I suppose the DVD player might also go 'out of site' under the driver seat - unless you have the lockable box thingy there - anyone tried that ? Simon Quote
ALARM MAN Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Yep course i fitted it my self :( Prob what you see its roof lights you can switch on It has an FM modulator so you can tune in to car radio or use headphones Great when Lizzie Mcguire is on :( Quote
Guest nimrod Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 I suppose the DVD player might also go 'out of site' under the driver seat - unless you have the lockable box thingy there - anyone tried that ? Simon The problem with mounting the DVD player in either the under seat storage bin or in the cubby hole along side the jack is when you need access to it to change the disc! either the seat has to be slid forward, not really possible on the move! or you have to load the boot space leaving enough space to get into the cubby hole! you either go for the option like Ians and mount it in the dash or in my case under the dash! both ways means that an adult has access to the controls and only the correct equipment is stuffed into the DVD player :( Quote
ALARM MAN Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 As the man said only the right stuff is stuffed into the slot OOOOOHHHH EEEERRRRR :( BY THE WAY metalmickey How is it going ? :( Regards Ian Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I dont have a problem with mine hidden away in the boot, I rarely drive on a journey that last longer than a movie with the kids so we just choose one before we leave and bingo. Or burn your own DVD's with bits and cartoons of their favourites, lasts ages. Quote
Guest metalmickey Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 BY THE WAY metalmickey How is it going ? Thanks for asking :D Just received an email from mp3playerstore.com stating that they need a faxed photocopy of the face of my credit card before they can authorise my order. It seems that they do this to ensure that I actually have the card in my possesion and that I am not trying to defraud them. Anyway, I don't have a fax so I've sent a photo of the card but not sure if this will be acceptable. I'll post photos of the finished job - if anyone is interested I'll try to do some during the fitting - assuming of course that i receive the kit. Typical of course, I just decide to spend some cash and my air con starts to hiss from the evaporator, I have a receipt for a gas chamber and pipes (???) being replaced and regassing in Sep 02 but I've only had the car about 8 months so don't know if this was the last time it was gassed or if the dealer gassed it just before I bought it. Anyway, it's booked in for Thursday so i'm keeping my fingers crossed that this isn't the start to an AC saga such as I've read in other threads. Quote
Guest Blubert Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Thinking of buying from the MP3playerstore, can anyone tell me if there is an issue with negative/positive earth as the kit would be from the US? Quote
ALARM MAN Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Hi Metal Mickey Sorry to hear about your Aircon ( Bummer ) I had to send a picture of my card for verification .They must get dodgy ones. Next time if you order,if you do that is.They know your ok Good luck what did you order by the way ( not sure if i asked this ?) Regards Ian Quote
ALARM MAN Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Thinking of buying from the MP3playerstore, can anyone tell me if there is an issue with negative/positive earth as the kit would be from the US? Dont worry all cars are neg ground Ian Quote
Guest metalmickey Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Hi Ian Too right about the AC, never really realised how cool (pun intended) having AC is until it stopped working. Appart from the obvious worry of whether this is the start of a larger problem, I am having to try a new garage (gulp) as my normal garage doesn't do AC :( I orderd very similar to you I think: 1 * INNOVATEK FM-02 DIGITAL PLL SYNTHESIZED FM-STEREO MODULATOR1352 1 * Bundle Promo : Innovatek FD-5 IN-DASH CAR DVD Player + TM-700D 7" CAR ROOFMOUNT TFT LCD MONITOR933 I nearly went for the fd5 with TV Tuner but I didn't want to add a big aerial and I never had any success with the portable active tv aerial that I bought from Maplins for my old setup. BTW what is the quality like, i.e does it play without jumping, does it play dvdr (if so have you tried with both types +/-), does it feel like good quality kit? Cheers Chris Quote
ALARM MAN Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Plays superb no jumps clear picture remembers where you were when you switch off and restart Plays multi region TV tuner no good as only works North America We are very happy with it Ian  Quote
