david_geng Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Hi, I think some of the diesel versions have a boost heater running on the fuel to warm up the engine quicker in cool weather. I wonder if such heater can be turned on even without the engine running? does it have its own water pump or it has to use the one built in with the engine? Many thanksDavid Quote

There was a special option offered to cold countries (e.g. Finland) at least on the Mk 1. This had an additional electric water pump, a second auxillary battery mounted in the car, a programmable timer/clock and presumably modified looms for the heater blowers. If you search the forum there has been discussion in distant past and I believe at least one meber has modified his car with this. Quote
