I was just about the to buy a 2.2 Gal,got a very good price for a new car trade in not to bad (mk2 Gal).Ok I said now what extras can I get ? Oh said the salesman the car he quoted for has been prebult we cant do that price on a new build and it takes 13 wks so I walked away...is he talking mince on the price and build time?

from what I'm told, Ford operate a policy of where their dealers have to pay for the car in full before they get it on their forecourt and are able to sell it to you, which means that in order to stock and sell a car the dealer is already out of pocket! so they buy the basic cars and hold them in stock, as its cheaper for them, so if you want x, y and z extras they have to order the car from the factory direct and then pay the extra, where as other dealers/maufacturers get to pay for their stock after the car has been sold, so they can order a car with x, y and z on it and have it sitting on their forecourt ready to sell

Anyone have any idea what the a new build time is..some dealers say 13ish others say 6 -10wks

It will vary depending on what specification you want and when the factory plans to build that specification. I suspect the Dealer won't really know until the order is placed and even then it might change.
