icecoolpsycho Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Hi Any ideas on this one Just bought a car. Have the key with the torch on it and thats it. No Fob. No other keys. Will have to get Ford to sort that out. Heres the issue. The key I got starts the car no probs and opens the tailgate. It doesnt open any door (The lock just spins - a security feature i believe) When i lock or unlock the drivers door from the inside the central locking operates the drivers door and petrol cap only. No other door. All other door only operate themselves. Dont know what I did but a few hours ago the drivers door wouldnt open at all even from the inside. I played around with the igintion lock and tailgate lock and it seems to work now. Think theres a ghost there lol. So the question is. Whats going on? How much do you think it will cost to have the keys and fob replaced? Many Thanks Ice Quote
mk2vr6 Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 the dealers fix will require you to buy all new locks and matching keys includeing the ignition switch, and remotes! you'll need a second morgage to pay the bill! the cheaper option is to pick a set of rear door handles and replace the front two with them! de-locking the front doors, making the car just that little bit more secure and gaining loads of street cred in the process ;) while your were peeing, oops sorry playing around you probably set the rear hatch to manual operation only? as for the door not operating from the front doors, sound like you have a few broken wires in the door looms? a common fault and cause of central locking problems you could get a local locks smith to cut and code you a new set of keys a lot cheaper than the dealers will! and if you can pick up a remote blank on ebay ? your laughing ;) Quote

gregers Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 LOTS.is your car is a mk 1?,there should be a alarm/central locking ecu there probably this is the reason why you cant get the thing to lock properly???unless some bright spark has moved it with all the wires?but doubtful.how long have you had the car?is it dealer bought? as you can see this car has suffered from its own swimming pool,CHECK THE REAR WASH PIPE has been mended,if not mend it or your be suffering with a soaking wet footwell.
