gazza66 Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 Ive got a 99 2.3 Galaxy and ever since Ive had it the rear near side window has never worked, so off i went to the scrap yard and got another one. This I fitted and hey ho same problem, so i stripped the off side panel off and checked both my motors on this one and they are both fine but when i re-fit them on the other side all they do is make a clicking sound , so something is getting through but theres obviously a fault some where, Ive checked for broken wires in the rubber connector thing in the door shut , there was a couple broken but these were for the speaker ( that at least now works :-)Any ideas chaps? has anyone had this problem? All ideas welcome. Quote

PaulBG318 Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 Had a similar problem with my drivers window. Replaced motor/regulator, still just clicking ! Then checked all the wires with a volt meter, all good. Then realised may be a problem with a wire under load, was ! mine was the earth (brown wire)Easy to test, get a pin and push it into the brown wire (assuming earth problem) and then connect to earth (body work) and try ! Hope this helps you. Paul Quote

sepulchrave Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 ...Ive checked for broken wires in the rubber connector thing in the door shut , there was a couple broken but these were for the speaker ( that at least now works :-)... Are you sure there are no other broken wires? the conductor can easily fray or snap inside the insulation rendering a visual inspection useless, you have to bell 'em out to be sure. Quote

Are you sure there are no other broken wires? the conductor can easily fray or snap inside the insulation rendering a visual inspection useless, you have to bell 'em out to be sure. Sorted it, after 2 years of no leccy window Ive finally fixed it . I belled all wires through and they were ok, through the motor connector through to the rear of the door shut connector, so no problem here. Next was dismantling the dash to get at the switch itself, a job in itself. Any way done this and got to the switch and started belling through as i was doing this i had a thought. Id earlier taken all the trim up in the passenger floor well, one , to dry the floor because of the leak i had earlier fixed ( blocked sunroof overflow ) and two, to follow the loom ( i also found the rear washer had disconnected here and was also flooding the floor well, two leaks fixed for the price of one ) Now, as i looked at the soaking wet loom in the floor well i wondered, hmmm. I took my knife and stripped of the outer binding and hey presto there it was. From the dash area 6 red and yellow wires all join in the floor well and then continue as 1 to the rear, here because of years of flooding they had corroded and had broken in two. One crimp later and i had a working window, the car is a total mess but i had finally fixed it. Now i wonder how many window faults etc are because of this problem with leaks that the Galaxy seems so prone to have. Any way i hope this helps if any one else haves this problem. Quote
