cscars Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Hello every oneHas anyone ever done the challenge of changing a galaxy 2.3 auto and ripped it out and put a 2.3 manual gear box in , if so would you recommend the challenge and what do you need from the donor car , ie Gearbox and mountings Drive shafts manual Gear stick and knob Linkage Clutch and fly wheel Pedal box Clutch master cylinder I would like any ones opinion about the job or does anyone have a 2.3 auto box available Quote
mk2vr6 Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Dont forget all the ECU's looms and sensors you'll need to remove, bypass, replace as well! hit the breakers and look for another slush box, is yours that far beyond repair? Quote
big_kev Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 I would like any ones opinion about the job Don't even think about it ...... If your car is a MK1 then it would be more cost effective to scrap it......you'll be lucky to find an auto box that works any better in a scrapyard. If you have a newish MK2 then you may be able to find an auto box from a wreck. Just my opinion. Quote
eddies Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I have a TDI auto and may change to manual if the gearbox cann be economically repaired. You will need all the parts you listed and may also require the main ECU from the donor vehicle plus the VIN / Chassis number to get the secuirty code from the main dealer....to recode the immob system.
