. My sat navs part to blame took me through bodmin moore on single track roads on hills you wouldnt belive towing my 7.5 mtr caravan cant belive i made it through. but it was the short route :D Never mind will take the long route home if it pulls ok.

actually the sat nav has no part in the blame, it only did what you asked of it, it suggested the shortest route, it didnt hold a gun to your head and force you take it, you the idiot behind the wheel with half a brain who told it which route HE wanted to take did, the reason your clutch is slipping is purely down to the poor choices made by YOU

it pisses me off when idiots like you pass the blame onto an inanimate object of which you control the the parameters for, in helping it make the choice of route, especially as it doesnt know that your dragging a plastic shed behind you! but hey you probably never knew that also as you sound like the sort of pratt who wouldnt use his mirrors? well in this case you didnt or you would have seen the large plastic object strapped to the back of your car and thought hey! maybe this route being suggested to me isnt a good idea! or maybe not.......

I await the flaming..........................bring it on :D

Lol @ mk2vr6 :D

Jeez, I regularly drive a LWB 3.5 Ton Van fully laden with tools and gear all over the country to remote hilltop locations and I can categorically tell you that if you use satnav in this way you WILL do the damage you have described, I have recently been working at the top of Caradon Hill on Bodmin Moor and the types of road you describe are easily avoided.

Get a nice shiny new AA GB road atlas and plan ahead, use ONLY motorways and major A roads to get close to your destination, then do a short hop to the horrible place on the horrible roads.

In my case this meant the A30 to Launceston, the A388 to Callington, the A390 toward Liskeard and finally jumping off onto local roads for only the last couple of miles.

You'll do more miles but use less fuel, minimise wear and tear on your vehicle and caravan, massively reduce the likelihood of an accident and arrive at your destination more relaxed, more quickly and less tired.

I ONLY use pratnav for alien town/city centres where it is actually useful, this also means that my sense of direction remains unimpaired and I get to see all the landmarks etc.

I've seen people who rely on pratnav, and after only a few months they get lost in their local Sainsburys!

Change the way you drive or your nice new car will die screaming horribly. :D

I use mine daily to get to addresses all over the midlands (northants, oxfordshire, cambridgeshire, staffordshire, b'ham, east anglia, hampshire, hertfordshire and where ever else the silly cow in the office decides is the midlands!) it doesnt take a genius to work out that the route that its chosen for you isnt suitable! especially when you know the limits and size of your vehicle!

it amazes me how many idiots follow the sat nav instructions given to them and then kick off and blame it when they go up a one way street the wrong way or get their 40 ton petrol tanker stuck on a ditch on a road clearly not fit to take a hand cart yet alone a petrol tanker, and then there was that stupid person that complained that his tomtom put his families life at risk when it took it them along a cliff top road! when it said turn left along cliff top road he must have though hello cliff top road thats a pretty name I wonder why its called that? at that point we should have nutured him and stopped him from reproduceing any more idiots :D
