;) Hi guys, Sorry to jump straight in but here goes! I've been seriously looking for a large 7 seater for about 4 months now, but, for several reasons my hunt has been quite specific (diesel, auto, less than 7 years old!). Anyway, after a serious near miss, (put a deposit on a renault Espace only for the turbo to blow before collection!) I think I've found the one. "53" plate 1.9 TDI 115 ps, ghia, auto, full history. Sounds great but it has just under 80,000 on the clock.

 

Can anyone help? how many miles should a diesel do? if it was petrol i wouldn't touch it! ;)

well mines an 03 and got 82k on the clock,isnt it 12-15k a year? that you allow for.

is it private sale or dealer?if dealer try and get them to give you a years warrenty.

bear in mind there is a lot of people on here that have had problems with autos.

if you look through some of the recent thread on the forum you will see someones galaxy sadly died iirc at about 245k lol.bear in mind this is a 6 year old car and not brand new.

think you had a luckey excape with the espace.

My 130HP 1.9tdi - 04 reg has done 71000miles and feels like new. they go on and on.

 

with that reg and that mileage try and get the dealer to change the cam belt and antyhing else that's easy to change whilst it's being done (water pump?)

yeah forgot about that malcolm,the cam belt shouldve been changed at 60k.

hi, ive just put a new engine in a 51 plate tdi 90ps with 311000 miles on the clock, thats not a miss print its got 311000 miles on it so i dont think you will have any probs with that milage, i would take a look at the service history to see if its been looked after, you cant change the oil and filter enough on diesels, twice a year is fine, and like gregers and malcom say, check to see if the cam belt has been changed if not this will need doing...

;) Thanks a lot guys, I wouldn't touch one if the cam belt hadn't been done! Regarding Auto box problems, I think if you look on any forum site there will be many more problems with an auto than a manual (more bits to go wrong), or is it inherently a bigger problem with the Galaxy? ;)
