croc86 Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 I one particular problem of many on my 2003 Ford Focus 1.8 tdci Zetec. The rain sensors are blatently there but no auto on the stalk!! How stupid is that! Any way to get the wiper stalk to communicate with the rain sensors? I noticed you a Mondeo owner managed to sort this problem but can not find out from him. Thanks ;) Quote
insider Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 If you have auto wipers then you will also have auto headlamps - check for "AUTO" on the headlamp switch, if not then you don't have them.If you do have them it won't say "AUTO" on the wiper stalk as the auto position is the first (intermittent). You can then adjust the sensitivity of the auto wipers using the ring switch. Quote

If indeed the rain sensors are properly linked up to the stalk AND the first intermittent position is actually AUTO, how can I get them working or change the speed if I don't have the stalk with the 6 speed intermittent setting? Is it just a case of buying a 6 speed stalk off of ebay and swaping over with the bog standard stalk that I have? Or do I have to change the relay also? Thanks Quote
insider Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 I doubt that it would be that simple. You'll probably need a control module and it would then need to be programmed by a Ford Dealer. Quote

Not sure why on earth someone would install a windscreen with a rain sensor with no control unit to control it!! Then again perhaps rain sensors come standard with the front windscreen heating element installation, which I have!?!? Edited July 13, 2009 by croc86 Quote
