Hi,

Does anyone know if the jack and wheelbrace from a mark II Galaxy are suitable for a mark 3 Galaxy.

Apparently because a jack is not listed as a part in the Main dealer I can never jack my car up and change a tyre. Must be down to health and safety.

However neither am I going to pump tyre weld into a punctured tyre and ruin it. I really like the idea of carrying a spare especially when I am in the middle of Europe.

Thanks

The jacking points on the Mark 3 are the same as those used for a vehicle lift so a trolley jack is probably the best option.

The jack from a Mark 2 Galaxy is designed to locate over the cill so wouldn't be very safe if used on a Mark 3.

Mk 1/2 are VW designs, Mk 3 is a Ford design - totally incompatible.

Hi,

The supplied puncture repair kit (ContiMobilityKit) will not "ruin the tyre" as the sealant is easily cleaned/washed from the inside of the tyre when you get it properly repaired. That said, these kits won't seal a big hole.

If you really want to carry a spare wheel and jack around with you, then the current Mondeo (2007 on) jack can be used. For jacking points, if you look at the sill from underneath, you will see a small 'bump' roughly in line with the A pillar, and another about 300mm in front of the rear wheel arch.

For the wheel, again the current Mondeo spare wheel will fit straight on. Others on here have gone to scrappers and got a wheel from a 2000 - 2007 Mondeo as they have the same bolt pattern/offset.

2007 on Mondeo jack is listed at

I used a jack off a Mkii to lift my Mk3 Galaxy (until I got shut of it cos bits kept falling off and the engine and geargox spent more time out of the car than in it).

I had no problems, it located fine over the cill

Sorry if its a silly question, but where and how do you fit a spare in the mk3? Anyone got pictures?

Thanks.

Hi. I actually sent an email to conti about the tyre weld repair and they too told me that it DOES NOT ruin the tyre just needs washing out with warm soapy water, garages just dont like to spend the extra time to clean them out, I bought a puncture repair kit from ebay called STOPANDGO brilliant product and used it on the car it is a mushroom head plug that seals the hole pefectly.

Hi

I use an early Galaxy jack on mine and have changed wheels several times with no problems. The handbook shows small semicircular marks on the sill at the front and back and I place the jack over the sill with these in the centre of the part that locates over the sill.

The spare I fix upright to the back of the rear seat using a luggage strap through the rear anchorage point and up and around the head restraint bars at the top of the seat having threaded it through the wheel in a couple of strategic places that enable the wheel to be pulled tight to the back of the seat.

I have had no problems with this method so far.

Hope this helps owners since Ford do not seem to want to!
